Sanctuary of Immortals — Chapter 045: Ancient-Stele-and-Heavenly-Diagram

Dark clouds rolled and churned. In an instant, light was extinguished between heaven and earth, and an endless darkness fell like a shroud of death, casting a cold and sinister terror across the world. Amid the rolling death-clouds, a towering ancient castle loomed in the sky, appearing and disappearing. Waves of blood surged up from within the ancient castle, emitting a凄艳的红 light against the black clouds. The world fell into a dreadful silence—not a single sound, a stillness like death itself.

The ancient castle was steeped in the weight of ages, as if it had torn through time from a primordial age. It was like a vortex of death, slowly drawing the boundless deathly aura from the ten directions toward itself, the roiling black clouds gradually swallowed into its depths.

The black mist faded, but the high heavens grew even more sinister and terrifying. Floating around the ancient castle were countless bones—an endless sea of white bones spread out beneath the sky, and the bleak castle stood above that snowy bone-sea, unspeakably dreadful and dead.

Several humanoid skeletons with gray wings flew out from the ancient castle. An aura of death and desolation billowed down as they gazed upon a lone island deep in the sea below.

This was a solitary island in the vast ocean.

On the island, the forest was dense, apes howled and tigers roared. Ninety percent of the island was covered by primeval forest, with towering ancient trees blotting out the sun and moon. Ferocious beasts and savage birds shrieked and soared—a scene straight from the barbaric ages.

But at this moment, an intensely cold and grim deathly aura swept from the distant sky. The island, which had been full of the roars of savage beasts, gradually fell silent.

Deep within the island, as if some primordial ancient beast stirred, it occasionally let out a few angry low growls. Apart from that, the world was silent!

Xiao Chen, lying unconscious on the sandy beach, seemed to feel the bone-piercing chill. His body twitched involuntarily a few times.

Only after a long time did the grim deathly aura slowly recede. The vast white bone-sea, bearing that ancient and weathered castle, gradually vanished over the endless ocean.

Only then did life begin to return to the world. Several dozen roars, like the cry of dragons, sounded from the depths of the island. Gradually, the island recovered its former vitality.

The sun blazed overhead. Xiao Chen did not know how long he had lain there. The sound of waves reached his ears. He slowly opened his eyes. Before him, the blue-green sea rose and fell. He was lying on the hot golden sand.

The scorching sunlight made him dizzy and lightheaded. His whole body ached with burning pain. His throat was parched, his lips cracked. He struggled to sit up and take in this unfamiliar environment.

Hot sea breezes carried a salty, fishy smell. Flocks of seabirds soared over the green waters. From time to time, enormous fish leaped out of the sea, stirring up huge waves.

Deep within the island, the howls of savage beasts thundered in his ears. Xiao Chen felt as if he had been transported back to the primeval era.

On the shore, a grove of tall, green coconut trees cast a patch of cool shade. Clusters of ripe, brownish-yellow coconuts were piled together, looking especially tempting against the green leaves.

His parched mouth seemed to moisten slightly. Xiao Chen stood up with difficulty and staggered forward.

The blazing sun was blocked, and the burning pain finally eased.

A light sea breeze stirred the emerald-green coconut leaves, and Xiao Chen finally felt a trace of coolness.

Ripe coconuts occasionally fell to the ground with a dull thud.

It felt like fire flickering in his throat, as if smoke and flame were rising from his mouth. Xiao Chen was desperately thirsty, his whole body in pain. He stumbled about, gathered a pile of coconuts, and then sat down heavily.

He used his qi to split a coconut open and gulped down the sweet, refreshing milk. The feeling was exquisite. For Xiao Chen, whose parched throat felt like it was burning, coconut milk was truly nectar.

So I have come to the World of Immortality!

A thousand thoughts raced through Xiao Chen's mind. Where had Lan Nuo gone? And those legendary figures from history—did they truly live in this world? He was filled with questions. Of course, he did not know that the imperial princess Zhao Lin'er had also entered this realm.

Finally, he knelt silently on the ground, bowing to his parents across time and space, bidding them farewell. From now on, immortals and mortals would be forever separated!

He was a decisive person. Forcing himself to put aside his sorrow, he began to consider how to survive in this unfamiliar world.

Sitting quietly on the sandy ground, leaning against a thick coconut tree, Xiao Chen's body glowed with a translucent luster, as if shrouded in a hazy radiance. The essence of heaven and earth continuously gathered toward him. Within the coconut grove, spiritual energy swirled, and faint iridescent light flickered.

The roars of beasts continued. This was no peaceful place. His first priority was to recover his strength as quickly as possible. Xiao Chen circulated his cultivation technique, drawing on the vitality of the plants and trees to heal his injured body.

His method of cultivation originated from a mysterious stone carving.

He had grown up by the Yellow River. When he was seven years old, a rare drought struck. The stretch of the Yellow River in front of his village nearly dried up, and a huge stone stele emerged from the riverbed. After the mud was cleared away, the front of the stele bore four ancient characters: "Eternally Settle the Yellow River."

An old legend had long been passed down along both banks of the Yellow River: when Yu the Great controlled the floods, a divine stele descended from the Ninth Heaven and was set permanently in the river to ensure that the floodwaters would never return.

Thus, when the stele appeared from the riverbed, the villagers immediately thought of the legendary divine stele. They washed the mud from its surface and burned incense in worship day after day.

After it was cleaned, the back of the stele also showed carved marks—a mysterious and complex diagram. The villagers could not understand it and regarded it as a heavenly script.

That "heavenly script" filled young Xiao Chen with endless fantasies. Every day he would go and stare at the stele, until two months later when heavy rains returned and the Yellow River swelled, sinking the stele forever into the riverbed.

But by then, the mysterious and complex diagram had long been deeply engraved into young Xiao Chen's mind. Later, when he began to study martial arts and walk the path of cultivation, he finally understood what that complex stone carving truly was!

It was an ancient and mysterious Qi-Refining Diagram, a gift from heaven!

Xiao Chen did not know whether that mysterious stone carving could match the legendary celestial arts and sacred scriptures. But from the age of ten, he began to cultivate it unceasingly. Over the next ten years, he constantly learned techniques from others, but his inner method never changed.
