Sanctuary of Immortals - Chapter 080: Battle-at-the-Sixth-Heavenly-Tier

No one knew who broke first. A terrified shout rang out, and someone fled down the snowy mountain. Then everyone began to rout. The spellmasters and spiritists in the sky also rushed away in panicked flight.

Xiao Chen was too terrifying—like a demon incarnate. Surrounded by so many assassins, he had still butchered over a dozen experts! He was as cold as an Asura bursting forth from hell, drunk on blood and slaughter, merciless in his killing.

The stench of blood hung heavy over the snowy peak. The white world was utterly stained red. Blood mist coiled around the summit, and severed limbs and shattered bodies lay everywhere—a scene like a butcher-god's slaughterhouse.

Xiao Chen stood leaning on his sword. The Divine-Sealing Light Screen had long since dimmed. Blood covered him from head to toe, but his presence was still as sharp as an unsheathed divine blade.

Silence reigned on both snowy peaks. For a time, the stillness was absolute. Xiao Chen's fierceness and dread had instilled deep fear in many.

Most had come merely to watch. Those who had harbored designs now fell silent. Some among them were capable of crossing swords with Xiao Chen, but they had to re-evaluate the cost of such a battle.

Suddenly, a shower of resplendent light rained down upon Xiao Chen like falling stars from the heavens. The powerful spiritual energy fluctuations were detected even by the distant spectators—a storm of energy blades whose force seemed no less than Xiao Chen's own attacks.

The divine sword blazed like a rainbow. Xiao Chen left afterimages across the snowy summit, each swing of his blade sending forth searing light that shattered wave after wave of blade-rain. He knew from instinct that this was a formidable foe. As yet, he had not located the attacker's position.

Then, abruptly, his divine sword lost its point of contact. The blade-rain grew denser, but it all seemed illusory—not actually condensed from spiritual energy.

“Kailuo, the genius illusionist spiritist!” Xiao Chen knew at once who had arrived.

Even knowing it was an illusion, he dared not be careless. Amid the phantoms, a real blade-rain might be hidden.

At the same time, Yan Qingcheng burst forth from the snow. Her face, capable of toppling cities and kingdoms, was dreamlike and ethereal. Dressed in purple, she moved with the wind, appearing even more otherworldly atop the snowy peak.

In that instant, the summit blazed with dazzling purple light. Yan Qingcheng seemed like a dancing spirit, lifting lightly into the air. Purple mist swirled around her, forming nearly transparent wings of light behind her, allowing her brief flight. At this moment, she was truly transcendent.

With the beauty that sinks fish and startles geese, Yan Qingcheng transformed into a purple beam in the sky and unleashed the legendary Immortal Devil Art. Streams of purple light flowed from her hands, lancing toward Xiao Chen like purple lightning.

Yan Qingcheng, at the fifth heavenly tier of Mortal-Shedding!

Xiao Chen's heart tightened. No wonder she dared engage him in mortal combat. If he had not broken through to the sixth tier, the outcome would have been uncertain.

But now, Yan Qingcheng was not his only opponent. Hidden within the illusion, the genius illusionist spiritist seemed to have reached the sixth tier of Mortal-Shedding! The attacks that flickered between reality and illusion were difficult to defend against. Moreover, somewhere in the shadows, a successor of Little Li Flying Dagger had yet to show himself.

Xiao Chen decided to retreat for now and deal with them separately later. A pitched battle against a sixth-tier genius illusionist spiritist would be a clash of dragons and tigers. Add Yan Qingcheng and the still-hidden Wang Tong, and his situation was extremely unfavorable.

But at that moment, the genius illusionist spiritist Kailuo finally struck in earnest. Hundreds of identical golden-haired youths surrounded Xiao Chen.

Without doubt, they were all phantoms, with only one being Kailuo's true body.

Kailuo's features were not handsome, but his bearing was extraordinary—one of those rare individuals whose very presence proclaimed future greatness, a dragon destined to soar. His blue eyes were deep as the ocean, daring no one to meet them directly.

The illusion Kailuo wove covered the entire snowy summit. Swords, blades, lightning, heavenly fire—attacks both physical and energy-based raged across the peak as if hundreds were unleashing their abilities. Thunder roared deafeningly. Radiant divine blades rent the void. Boundless heavenly fire reddened the sky. Vast torrents of spiritual light fell like shooting stars…

Countless phantoms filled this frozen world, creating a spectacle of immense scale, as if a war were being waged rather than a single duel. All onlookers were shaken.

A terrifying genius illusionist spiritist!

Xiao Chen faced great trouble. On this summit, he dared not ignore any attack, for it was impossible to judge which were real and which were false.

The genius illusionist spiritist Kailuo had not gained his reputation idly!

Terrifying energy surged like a great river in flood, like ten thousand hectares of churning ocean. The summit fell into utter chaos, the clamor reaching its peak. Reality and illusion blurred, and it was impossible to distinguish which attacks were truly deadly.

Xiao Chen's wild hair flew in the wind. His eyes shone like stars. His tall, straight figure stood unmoving as a pine on the snowy peak, but the divine sword in his hand transformed into a thousand shadows. The dazzling sword-light coalesced into a dense net of light that sealed off all the terrifying assaults.

Moreover, the Divine-Sealing Light Screen reappeared, enveloping his body and blocking the endless torrent of chaotic energy.

As long as he could not see through the illusion to locate Kailuo's true position, this battle could not end. Xiao Chen's eyes emitted two beams of tangible light, searching for Kailuo's real body amid a thousand layers of radiance, all while contending with Yan Qingcheng, who hovered in the air on her purple wings of light.

But his vital energy drained continuously, and he still could not find where Kailuo was hiding.

It was only because Xiao Chen's life essence was far richer than an ordinary person's that he had not collapsed from exhaustion. Endless divine light streamed from his body, not only sustaining the Dipper-Sealing Divine Screen but also shattering wave after wave of semi-real, semi-false spiritual energy attacks.

At last, he found a flaw—a tiny, barely perceptible flaw! His keen spiritual perception caught the faintest, nearly inaudible heartbeat, and he located where Kailuo's true body was hidden.

Xiao Chen struck Yan Qingcheng aside with a single sword-blow as she dove at him, then transformed into a beam of light and charged forward, aiming directly at Kailuo's hiding place.

Dozens of bolts of lightning wove together to block Xiao Chen, and roaring sheets of heavenly fire descended from all sides to impede his advance. Wave after wave of deadly blade-rain came crashing down.

All of these were genuine spiritual energy attacks, not illusions.

Xiao Chen smiled coldly. This only confirmed that Kailuo's true body was there. His divine sword swung wide and fierce, shattering over a dozen light screens, dissolving the boundless heavenly fire, and his tall figure broke through the blockade like a god of slaughter.

But in that instant, every hair on Xiao Chen's body stood on end. A premonition of doom flashed through his mind, and then an overwhelming sense of danger enveloped him!

He had shattered the blade-rain ahead, but one point of light blazed with extraordinary brilliance, like a comet streaking across the sky. It was so bright he could not open his eyes. Even the longsword in his hand was shattered by that piercing light!

Little Li Flying Dagger!

The legendary flying dagger of certain death!
